A very warm welcome to the Clonagh and Jennalyn Simmentals “Festive Females” online sale. We are honoured to present these 11 elite females for auction on the 11th December 2020. These ladies include the pick of the bunch from our winter 2019 and spring 2020 crops, all of our natural born heifer calves and one embryo calf. They are daughters, granddaughters and sisters of many of our past National show and sale champions.
They are the best group of heifers we have ever presented for sale and we strongly believe they are both visually and genetically in a league of their own. Offering our best progeny for sale is a hard decision to make and while we would like to retain everything, we would take more satisfaction in watching these phenomenal females flourish in other herds.
We’ve built both herds on the belief that all you need is that one good female from a proven line and the herd will build itself. These girls are testament to that and we’re confident they will continue that philosophy for their new owners for generations to come.
Most of our “Festive Females” go back to our original purchases including Clough Sandra (lot 6) and Clonaslee Wanda (lots 2, 7, 8, 9 and 11) both of whom were instrumental in the success of the herd. Seabank Rosebud (lots 6 and 10) was also among one of our original purchases and is still active in the herd today. We have purchased few females over the past 15 years, including the notable and highest grossing female, Milton Senorita (lot 1).
Females offered from the Jennalyn herd also date back to the foundation lines, Jennalyn Scarlet (lot 5) a half sister to Milton Senhorita herself, Jennalyn Rosie (lot 3) was a granddaughter of the infamous Camus Solitaire and Ballybane Nora (lot 4) was the first female to be purchased in to the Jennalyn herd.
But of course, it’s not all about the strength of the females and we have been so fortunate to be blessed with the success of Banwy T-Rex, both in terms of the functionality and visual appeal of his direct progeny, but in terms of how his granddaughters are now breeding.
T-rex daughters have jelled tremendously well with Kilbride Farm Dragoon adding a big sea of red to our team. It goes without saying that Manor Park Hansome has taken the herd to the next level. His progeny, like himself, have excellent bone structure, are correct and are packed with natural muscle. He has that added bonus of being easy calving with ET calves being born naturally from heifers too.
Like any successful herd, the history books continue to be written and our most exciting and recent chapter to date has to be watching our superstar bull, Clonagh Lucky Explorer, smash the Irish record price at the Premier sale in Roscommon in October selling for an astounding €52,000 to the UK.
Our other highlight came just last year at the National Livestock Show, winning eight national titles, including the overall and reserve overall in both the male and female sections.
It was a true honour and testament to the hard work and dedication put in behind the scenes to see the entire senior female line up at the National Show be made up of our five ladies. That particular chapter was fittingly completed with our top show girl from 2019, Clonagh Jubilant Fabulous, later being sold for a Premier Sale female record price of €18,000.
